“Kindness in the NHS between healthcare professionals when patients sadly pass away is something I am not sure is talked about that often, and so I thought I'd share the following kindness story.

I'm a nurse in our NHS, and have recently returned to work after a lengthy absence due to a traumatic patient death."

"When another patient sadly passed away, in an area next to where I was working, my manager came to find me, and take me aside to inform me kindly, so that I did not enter the area.

Prior to my manager being able to do this, my colleagues in the area I was working had been informed and they then kept me busy with other jobs til my manager could get to me. Then after I was informed, they chatted with me for a while to help me process."

"Such kindness helps us do this job we do, and return to it day after day. I'm so thankful for my colleagues. We all do our best for patients at the end of their life, and taking care of each other with kindness makes a huge difference.”
