@chadkoh I don’t recall any questionable arguments per se, other than the title wildly oversells the book. Still very interesting but it’s just about Dartmouth BASIC

The author uses ephemera to explore what was a thriving culture of democratic amateur programming on timesharing mainframes, spreading even beyond the university

(As for complementary works you’re reminding me I wanted to read more about John Kemeny’s philosophy & it seems he wrote a book. Queued! https://archive.org/details/mancomputerbyjoh0000john/page/n6/mode/1up)
