Quite happy with a few recent plant photos that I made in the desert. #BloomScrolling time has started in Southern California. :)

This is Oenothera deltoides, an annual herb with absurdly large flowers that seem out of proportion for the entire plant. :)

It also has an absurd number of common names, incl. Desert or Devil's Lantern, Birdcage or Basket Evening Primose, Lion-In-A-Cage. Comes from the stems, which curl upward and take on the shape of a cage or lantern.

#NaturePhotography #Flowers

Close-up photo of a desert wildflower, using the "frog perspective" (the camera is low on the ground, at eye level with the plant). The plant has large, glowing white flowers with yellow anthers and stamens. Fine drops of water from a recent sprinkle can be made out on the petals.
