In yet another effort to destroy The United States Congress, Trump has now decided that his pirated Venezuelan oil will be sold by him, de facto ending The House of Representatives’ control over US federal finances.
This is particularly dangerous in an election year, where Trump wants money to finance initiatives that can suppress the November midterms.
The Nurnberg process was long, but the American Nurnberg process will be even longer, when the regime falls.

@randahl What I really struggle to understand is what's wrong with American democracy (as a system), making it so unable to react.
Or maybe the answer is easy (money and corruption) and a part of my brain just refuses to accept it... C'mon America, you're better than this

Our executive branch is ignoring congressionally mandated spending and running its own slush fund instead. There's no point to congress anymore.
@randahl The tarrif money is also money available to them outside congressional authorization. They're basically setting up a government outside of oversight.
Trump will be dead before any 'Nuremberg trials' happen, if they ever happen.

@randahl I don't understand why the world is still watching the convicted Felon 47 apprehending foreign presidents, threatening multiple countries with hostile takeover, while supporting RUS. IMO there is no time to wait & watch until some sort of trial, we cannot risk a WW3 & Europe (within or outside of EU) should in this very second start gathering allies world wide to apprehend the rogue felon & bring him down NOW, before he attacks GRL, CUB, COL, IRN, CAN, MEX... prolly in that order.
@randahl that's the same as in Dan Brown's "The Secret of Secrets", where the CIA invests with the purpose to have money to spend without congressional oversight... Probably a lot that is done by the "US government" is already shielded from oversight by democratic institutions. Who needs democracy in a capitalistic world?

There's a minor, real-world matter that Trump hasn't seemed to grasp yet
Venezuelan oil is "sour" and about the nastiest oil anyone could attempt to "process"
"Most of Venezuela’s crude is extra-heavy oil, closer in consistency to asphalt than gasoline.
To produce it at scale, companies need the following:
1) Specialized drilling equipment
2) Upgraders to turn thick crude into exportable oil
3) Constant maintenance to keep wells from clogging
4) Special chemicals (often imported) to thin the oil so it can flow
Thus, while Venezuela still has massive amounts of proven reserves, it lacks a functioning system to extract, process and ship it.
Over the past two decades, that system has all but fallen apart, based on decisions inside and outside the country"

@randahl Trump has Congress by the balls. Most of the majority come from rural districts and if they speak out against Trump they will lose their seats and stupid people without spines like nothing more than hanging on to their only source of power.
It is a minor point, but another problem with this troof is that the Department of Energy's mission does not encompass piracy of the energy resources of foreign nations.

@randahl There's a great European precedent of a king who saw an overseas country as his personal belonging and enriched himself with the natural resources of it. His name was King Leopold II of Belgium and he deemed the Congo to be his property, killing millions of people while exploiting it.
@Remittancegirl @altim @randahl That's how I learned this too. It was kinda required reading at the artist's colony, which was funded by the author, that I worked at for a few years. I couldn't finish the book because it was too brutal.

@randahl sadly i don't see an American Trial like Nuremberg. they didn't manage to do it properly following Term1 - and it complety vague what will happen after Term2. I think it's up to us Vikings to plan or kidnapping TACO. call in the Berserkers...
