Over the course of my life, I have that knowing in advance that things are going to get worse, does very little to help one feel better when things then do get worse. This is the situation with the Trump regime.

Trump’s domestic paramilitary is now in Minnesota, he’s denying social services funds to five major, blue states, he’s marauding in and Around Venezuela, he’s drastically imperiling the very existence of NATO with his talk of taking Greenland …. 1/

We must, must, must continue to pay attention to such developments. It is unpleasant, scary, and hard but unless we keep paying attention we stand no chance of ever successfully getting rid of the Republican Fascist Party. 3/

As has been their strategy for at least ten years, the Republican Fascists count on ignorance, their own ability to bamboozle, and people’s lack of focus to mask their brutality, corruption, and lawlessness. 4/

Knowledge and awareness are an indispensable source of opposition to an utterly unacceptable political regime. They are not sufficient to change things but they are necessary. We need organization, courage, tenacity, and grit. All of these are easier to grow when we apprehend and understand what we are facing. 5/

Remind yourself that opposition to political evil starts with facing it. Yes, pace yourself in absorbing information, do things to stoke your resilience, all that. But do not let reality chase you away from grappling with it. 6/

It’s 2026 – #US midterms in November! If you want the #vote to work now, get an ever growing mass of the concerned to contact their reps with the #impeachment demand, or, we #primary you with someone who will, while finding those candidates and promoting them
Let’s do #democracy against these fascist upstarts and their enablers.

@heidilifeldman I find this aspect to be the most frustrating remnant of the Obama admin. The notion that progressive success was inevitable, so progressives had only to be smart, aware, and could, from a place of sarcasm or disdain, simply call out hypocrisy. It’s action less and glib. It’s also dangerous at this point. Because democracy, freedom, human rights, right of law are not self-evident. They’re constant pushes or else constantly eroded.

My vote for action is soft secession.
