I've just finished my first read of We Will Rise Again: Speculative Stories and Essays on Protest, Resistance, and Hope. It's got a mix of essays, interviews, and #SpecFic. Some serious, some sad, some angry, some silly, some hopeful.

I haven't yet had a lot of experience as an "activist" per se, but my limited experience has placed me in the presence of those who have walked the path for a long time, often longer than I've been alive. I've tried to listen to their wisdom. And this book covers a lot of what I heard and more besides.

Doing the work is exhausting. It's also important. In the midst of it, I've found myself getting lost in the serious, sad and angry. Being reminded of the silly and hopeful is important. Reading this has given me some perspective, and hopefully a second wind.
