Okay, collective brain, help me out here.

There almost certainly already is a term for the retort in the form of:

"I don't think that's offensive, because it doesn't bother me, personally"

If not, perhaps we might coin such a term?

[Much of the effort thus far has been expended on trying to attribute the above retort to a mindset, rather than in characterizing the speech act on its own terms.]

@inquiline

Leaves out the positionality of such assertions, no?

The person committing such error might very well couch their reasoning in a naive solipsism, but even to assert such an ego-centered justification would implicate privilege, which stands structurally distinct from self.

@inquiline

That earns a chuckle.

Something tells me peers in Black and POC communities of discourse probably already have long had a less clunky term for this.

But we can keep playing swap the doll-heads with affixes until someone chimes in to tell us there's already an established turn-of-phrase in the wild.
