Found on Linkedin: digital image presents a list titled "THE LIFE OF A PROGRAMMER" with a series of bullet points.

The title uses red uppercase letters for "THE LIFE OF A" and purple uppercase letters for "PROGRAMMER".

Each bullet point is marked with a purple clover icon and contains the following text verbatim: "No hugs & kisses, only bugs & fixes", "No dates, only updates", "No crush, only crash", "No 69, only fix the line", "No romance, only maintenance", "No hugging, only debugging", "No rest, only test", "No smile, only compile", "No one trustable, only variable".

@Crissy that's been my life since July. I began an activist project to study Graphene OS for my comrades to help protect them. It ballooned into a multi month project where I researched and relentlessly tested nearly all encrypted communications and OS'. At the end of it barely anyone else wanted to put the effort into changing to Graphene and I cut my social circle to only secure communications. So guess who never gets invites out anymore?

@Catalyst_A Wow, thanks for sharing! That kind of deep commitment (spending months building a secure system for your comrades) is heroic work.

That effort matters, even if the adoption rate is low. That is a massive act of service.

Sounds incredibly isolating to have poured all that energy into a project only to have your social circle shrink right when you needed support the most, eh?

Here's the thing: You gave them a solution. Now, maybe the project is to create the secure space itself. You don't need to wait for an invite out.

Could you host a low-key, secure hangout night at your place (phones in a faraday bag), making the safe space the invite, not the communication method?

You did the hard work. Now, let the secure communication serve your well-deserved social connection.

@Crissy Yes, I can definitely do those things! I decided, though lonely at first, I could rebuild my social circle into a secure network. I'm sure I'll meet cool like minded people when I begin school next week for cyber security. I am blessed to be an organizer since birth. I used to spend endless hours alone in my closet creating big worlds with toys and such. I don't play with toys anymore but I'm good with just my own company. Thank you!
