@Tutanota Great! But SearX, Startpage, and Brave search are more private than Ecosia.
@Tutanota Signal? Let's focus on a European/Open-Source alternative like Element, build on Matrix protocol
@Tutanota I already made most of the changes last year and it's been great so far: Windows to Fedora (Linux), Google to Ecosia, Chrome to Brave, YouTube Premium to ReVanced, and of course: Gmail to Tutamail. Whatsapp to Signal is a very hard one when you're studying at university and every group chat is on Whatsapp, but I'm certain that I'll make the change after graduating. :D
@Tutanota Which is the best Linux u recommend?
@Tutanota personally I prefer Bitwarden or vaultwarden, keepass is a pain to sync without file conflicts.
@Tutanota just a note for everyone on the thread that Ecosia and qwant are working on an independent index together https://blog.ecosia.org/launching-our-european-search-index/ - might only be for French users at first though
@Tutanota ecosia is just a frontend for yahoo google and bing, how is that independent?
Habe gestern dank Trump ein Konto angelegt. Wird morgen o.s. frei geschaltet.
Was mir fehlt ist noch eine Tuta Notiz App. Kalender und Mail super ( i.d. Vorschau ).
Google Notizen habe ich jetzt erstmal durch die beim Smartphone mitgelieferte App ersetzt. Ohne Synchronisierung!
Leider kann ich die Google App nicht deinstallieren oder deaktivieren.
@Tutanota Signal 😕 ? There are much better alternatives.
@Tutanota Messenger app: Session
@Tutanota I'd LOVE to see a stable release of Tuta on Flatpak.
Is that in the cards for 2026?
@Tutanota I like the list, except for KeePassXC. They now use AI to build the product, and doubled-down when confronted on this. That project can no longer be trusted.
Standard KeePass >>> KeePassXC at this point.
@rhizomancer @pip Yes, we already have an early alpha and hope to release a public beta in a few months!
@pip Thanks, we'll look into this.
@Tutanota Linux, yeah; KeePassXC, yeah; Signal, ok?; Tuta, ... Ecosia ... hum?
@Tutanota I wish TutaCalendar could read/autoimport both my Outlook and iCloud Calendar, perhaps even add a simple way to sync it with the Calendar on Gnome (fedora linux) ... if already possible, make an easy guide 😊
@Tutanota Yeah pretty much any of the "small tech" options are better and more private, but privacy and security are worthless without intersectionality, so it's difficult to recommend Brave run by a bigot, or Proton whose CEO liked to "both sides" fascism. They too would be stood up there on inauguration day in a heartbeat if they had the chance.
@Tutanota Ecosia is not about privacy.
OS: daily driving #Linux for ~2 years.
Email: #Proton for ~6 years, #Tuta for ~1 year (recently switched my business to Tuta)
Password Manager: Proton Pass for most things. Self hosted #Bitwarden for my homeland stuff.
Search: Used #DuckDuckGo and #StartPage for a long time but recently moved to a self hosted instance of #SearXNG
@Tutanota there is also https://keepass.info/index.html for password management.
@Tutanota Ecosia as a search engine is not so private. Better to use Brave Search or Mojeek
@Tutanota never heard of Ecosia I’ll have to check it out. I normally use multiple like start page, brave, DDG and others.
