@joachim ... Keeping busy
@joachim Gaslightning.
This was not a military coop- this was a full-scale invasion of a different country.
@franckraisch Are you accusing me of gaslighting someone?
@joachim your toot was inclrrect. The recent development in Venezuela is not the product of political instability. it is a war of the USA against Venezuela because of the oil the country posesses. This is different from a military putsch in Chile or Argentina.
@franckraisch so at worst it was a lie (and I can tell you it wasn’t), at most it was posted before the declaration by Trump that the US would run the country.
Do you know what “gaslighting” means, and do you think you used it well?
@joachim Looks to me like all but two of those were under Republican presidents.
@joachim this is an annexation, but yeah. Still in line.
@joachim #Truth is, US of #America is the worst kind of neighbor to have.
#worstOfTheWorst #MAGAmerica #BananaRepublic #USAssholes 🤦♂️🤦♂️💩💩
@joachim Y eso que este iba a ser el gobierno que pondria fin al intervencionismo... muy en la linea yanki. NO SON UN ALIADO DE FIAR... NUNCA LO HAN SIDO.
@joachim *(melody and lyrics by The Animaniacs)
@joachim Venezuela has the biggest oil reservoir on earth, and corporate America wants it.
Yeah imperialism at it's finest.
@joachim Boicot absoluto a todo lo que tenga que ver con EEUU. Están empeñados en destrozar el mundo en su inevitable caída.
@joachim I'm guessing Ecuador and Costa Rica had no natural resources worth stealing
that list is not complete (outdated, maybe?). US participated in the Brazilian 2016 coup, for one. I'm pretty sure there was meddling in elections in Ecuador. dunno about Costa Rica, but IIRC it has been historically sympathetic to US interests.

important distinction: what happened today was not (just) a coup attempt, it was a military invasion. IIUC the US had never done any of the latter in Latin America, it's a first.
@lxo you’re right!
What ?
They invaded Panama in 1990¹, and led multiple invasions before WWII.
¹I remember at the time how the usual useful idiots mocked that the Cuban TV covered this much more than Timisoara, which happened at the same time.
Obviously European TVs and newspapers didn't make this mistake.
But we learned later that the Panama Invasion killed more than 3000 people when Timisoara killed less than 1000...
hmm, indeed, I stand corrected. maybe it was South America that had been spared, rather than all of Latin America, then?
