I have a free afternoon and want to practice making a simple game that I can actually finish, so I was gonna work on horse drink simulator 3000, where you lead a horse to water and perform various minigames to try and make it drink but of course you can't. What are some classic horse drink moments for the interstitial dialogue trees - the original example was about grindset vibe coders worrying about someone stealing their app, but also I'm thinking trickle down economics, blaming shadowy ~powers~ instead of visible billionaires for social problems, etc. What horse drink compatible scenarios have you led someone to water but been unable to make someone drink?

@jonny i want to say about toxic masculinity in the workplace and capitalst shit forming cultural attitudes about safety but im too tired to articulate well and not sure how well it relates. like hmm maybe you dont need to remove the guard on that grinder, maybe its ok if you just go slower and dont lose your fingers. etc.

The game will need to have a bunch of irrelevant mechanics in it to make it seem like its a puzzle game where if you did the right series of actions then the horse drinks. I can't tell if the game just never ends or it just randomly ends by the horse drinking out of a filthy ditch or stealing the water from your pack or what

i am fighting my programmer instincts to set up infrastructure and plan ahead and trying to just make things that are directly in front of me as i need them. so i am just diving right into drawing sprites and getting a character to walk around instead of setting up the thirst meter, inventory, and menus

in the interest of not getting bogged down by anything and coming back and fixing stuff once the thing mostly exists, the player character will be a three panel spritesheet and will walk by flailing their arms and legs up and down
