The best way to celebrate New Years Eve is to go to bed. Don't stay up until midnight, it's always a disappointment.
Celebrate the sunrise tomorrow. Or the sunset. Or noon. Or whatever. Make peas and cornbread and collards. Or whatever suits you.
Fuck NYE midnight, the dumbest fucking holiday celebration ever.
It's a nice sentiment but an impossibility in my neighborhood where fireworks assholes think it's their God given right to blow up anything they want 100 feet from your door.
A friend once offered a theory that people either like New Years Eve or Halloween. So, out of curiosity, do you enjoy Halloween?
@JMMaok I'm kind of meh on Halloween. It's not my holiday at all. But I don't hate it like I hate NYE midnight celebrations.
To be clear I'm a huge fan of New Year's DAY traditions. But NYE is horrible.
Maybe her theory should expand to include that third New Years Day option :-)

Nice thing about being on the west coast is I can stay up until 9pm to celebrate with the ball dropping in NYC, and then go to bed at a reasonable hour.
