did vitalik just invent communism?

The key difference is that instead of focusing on "wealth", we are going one step upstream and focusing on the generators of unbounded wealth concentration - diffusing not dollars, but the means of production.

@molly0xfff surely BTC is the purest expression of the labor theory of capital, literally misunderstood?

@molly0xfff serious answer: decidedly no, the concept of wealth is absolutely fundamental so his beloved magic beans can continue to exist
unserious answer: [solid hour of vitalik's unintelligible muffled talking from inside the hot dog suit from that I Think You Should Leave bit]

@molly0xfff it's so funny how often shit like this happens. Like uber inventing the bus over and over again.

@jbaggs @molly0xfff One theme I see over and over again in tech is not just a complete lack of historical context, but the belief that techbros understand the fundamental underpinnings of the universe and thus, can derive all actions from their knowledge (and control it). It's the "theory of everything" disease from physics but now in computers.

@molly0xfff @OliviaVespera Noble aims here, but extremely messy and not solid on the anthopological/philosophical grounds.

This is a wholly libertarian based argument, which cannot reach beyond it’s confined space, and all the tools he produces will be made to serve the right-wing populism he fears, because he won’t reach out to any other authority than self-enacted power.

His tools will more likely enable a criminal-based neo-feudalism than an anarchist utopia.
