It's almost 2026 and I still dislike not having a headphone jack on my smartphone

@sidereal it's 2026 and I still only buy phones that still have them. Currently Moto G Stylus 2025.

That said, people also said I'd like having a big phone once I got one. Nope, gimme back my tiny phones.

iPods were great for DJs in a way that smartphones haven't been able to mimic.

You could just put like 40gb worth of music on there, and then play it on almost any sound system of the time (without an internet connection!). Output via audio jack or USB. And, crucially, iPods had no notifications, ever, interrupting your music. They never needed to have their software updated, either. Like, there were bugfixes and stuff, but you could ignore it and they worked fine out of the box.

It's hard to convince some folks that our tech has stagnated and in many ways gotten worse since the mid-00's.

Our tech has better/higher numbers associated with it, but the design, practicability, and overall ease of use has gone down as smartphones have gotten baroque
