“It’s inevitable” often means “we’re doing this against your will and without requiring consent because we’re in a position of power”

@thomasfuchs very true! I use this technique for training puppies to come when called.
@draNgNon puppies can be convinced of anything with enough liver treats
Often, but not always @thomasfuchs
Sometimes it means: "I'm/we're craven rat fucks, and we know it. Despite your objections, the thought of someone else *potentially* robbing/abusing you first is unbearable. So we'll act first and litigate later.
@thomasfuchs reminds me of folks who justify actions based on legality. The disconnect that happens where folks forget that laws are made by whoever is in power. That legality does not ensure morality.
@thomasfuchs And when they say "it's not going away"... well, that's what they used to tell the French about kings.
@thomasfuchs it is, in fact, quite evitable, but it would possibly make us money
@thomasfuchs is that really true in all cases? What if a comet was heading towards Earth and scientists said its inevitable that this will be a global killer. That humanities fate will inevitably be destroyed.
@x41h Hence I said "often", not "always".
@thomasfuchs Ha. I know. My mind takes me to evil sith "this is your destiny. It is inevitable".
@thomasfuchs TINA is better...
@thomasfuchs By "it's inevitable" they mean "don't fight back." But I don't like being told what to do, me.
@thomasfuchs 💯 -- the other times it feels like 'we'd sure find it convenient if you believed there's no hope in fighting against this.'
@thomasfuchs 'Inevitable' just means you're too lazy for consent dialogs. Almost always.
