@TheBreadmonkey I think that was the reason, all those years ago when we were Required to learn social media for work, that I rejected FB violently.
I had to follow friends and family! What rubbish is that! If I wanted to communicate with the people I know, I wouldn't be the stay at home hermit I am today.

@TheBreadmonkey In college, I saw two professors in casual wear grocery shopping and holding hands!

@TheBreadmonkey

i can't attest to the veracity of this anecdote.

it was a long time ago.

something about a teacher in a vintage car using their hand to indicate, and an ex-pupil driving past, giving them a high-five, and injuring them.

that should be in the highway code.

https://www.quora.com/What-exactly-would-happen-if-you-high-five-the-person-on-the-opposite-side-of-the-road-at-50-mph

i think this was at low speed with the teacher obviously stopped to turn right.

i can see how it would be tempting if you see someone you recognize with their hand out, to high-five it.

In the UK, for car hand signals (usually for broken indicators), you use your right arm: straight out for a right turn, straight out and making forward circles for a left turn, and out with palm down, moving up and down for slowing/stopping. These signals, from the Highway Code, are for emergencies when electrics fail, not for general use, but are essential for theory tests and safety if needed.

@TheBreadmonkey I once saw my math teacher at the beach. He was having a leisure stroll on the shoreline. Naked.

(I am from northern Germany, nudist beaches are not uncommon.)

@TheBreadmonkey Does the federated timeline even know about Caturday? I don’t think so.

Having occasionally looked into the federated stream & come away with burned eyeballs …

I'm sorry, lost my thread because the federated timeline just spontaneously mutated for the n-th time in the last 50 seconds.
(Imagine a row of burned eyeball emojis here)

What about that shadowy place?

That's the Federated timeline. You must never go there.

#Tusky, AFAICT, doesn't even make the federated timeline visible. This is as it should be.

Edit: the federated timeline isn't visible by default, but Ben has just shown me how to enable it.

Aargh! My eyes! 👀

@TheBreadmonkey Ben I think they own the clothes they wear to school, too. Or do teachers where you’re from wear robes and this is another situation where Hogwarts wasn’t doing a magical school thing, it was just a British school thing
