My nephew's wife, Abby, learned to knit off the internet during the pandemic. She made these for my mother-in-law (her grandmother-in-law) this year for Christmas, and I am absolutely blown away by the level of detail.
(The photograph looks like one is slightly bigger, but that is a trick of the camera - in real life they are the same size!)
The same hand-knitted mittens photographed from the palm side, revealing elaborate red and white colorwork depicting stylized birds or roosters. Each mitten shows a different bird design with detailed featherwork and decorative border patterns, maintaining the same striped cuff design and red ribbed wrist edges as seen on the back.
A pair of hand-knitted mittens photographed from the back, showing intricate red and white colorwork in a traditional Nordic or Fair Isle style. The mittens feature a repeating diamond pattern across the back of the hand and thumbs, with red and white vertical stripes on the cuffs and red ribbed edges at the wrists.
