It was only recently I learned #jazz pianist Johnny Costa, music director and musician for Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, with his trio (Carl McVicker Jr. on bass; percussionist Bobby Rawsthorne) played all the #music live in studio for each episode. As a #musician and #actor, this is fabulous to me!

After Mr. Costa’s death in 1996, Michael Moricz succeeded him to continue the program’s live music tradition. Additionally, Mr. Rogers composed more than 200 melodies, including lyrics, for the show.
