@TheBreadmonkey it's a great job for sam altman, too. all the dangers will relate to how powerful ai is, and how capable, and how disruptive, and coincidentally, how far in the future. entire segments of the workforce will be obsolete, they will warn. but the corollary to that warning is the promise of the amount of profit that can be made if you are the one making those workers obsolete. phenomenal pitch.
notably, none of the dangers will be things that are happening now. ai damaging peoples’ relationships, degrading consensus reality, eroding knowledge-bases, rotting digital infrastructure, israel’s ai generated citizen kill lists, racist bias, none of that will be mentioned. or if it's mentioned, it will be hand-waved away as a minor teething problem on the way to the real danger, the artificial general intelligence agent that is will definitely result from open ai’s work.
it's actually a challenging gig, you gotta be very careful about what dangers you worry about.
