He ran out of the restaurant and warned the pair to turn back

@davidgerard I wonder how they asked. ChatGPT tells me to not swim it. Or in the Bay of Fundy or Turnagain Arm. But they might have taken a photo or were vague. Or the plinko machine was happy to drown some tourists that day, who missed every warning sign posted all over town.

It's happening with decision making in the mountains too.

@davidgerard There's nothing in the article that says the swimmers used ai to determine when or where to swim. Am I missing something? Maybe something got cut out when I turned on reader view.

@starluna yes (and I'm not walesonline tech support)

why would you complain to someone you don't know posting a link that you chose to read it through a sideways mechanism and it didn't work

@davidgerard Also, reader mode is for screen readers. You know, for accessibility.

@davidgerard So where in the article does it state that the swimmers used AI?

@starluna @davidgerard

One of them told her he had consulted ChatGPT to find tide times before deeming it safe to venture out to the island early on Wednesday. He said: “I made the mistake of using ChatGPT for research to see when the low tide was. It said 9.30am. So we were out on that side and then as soon as you come back over it was literally completely different. A lesson learned for me.”

@davidgerard chatgpt literally screws up math. Why does anyone expect it will do anything else correctly?

@gallais @davidgerard the number of ads is pretty impressive (had opened it from the bsky app hence no blockers)
