Welcome to the Trump economy!
According to the US Travel Association, total inbound international visits to the US are projected to fall by approximately 6.3 % compared to 2024. Visits from Canada alone are down 24 %.
And these numbers are in a year where tourism was partly saved by the fact that travelers had already booked their trips before Trump returned. 2026 could turn out even worse.
Another calculation to the economy that we may have overlooked: ok, there's all that tourism that is not getting in, but there's also thousands (or maybe millions?) of US residents and citizens afraid to get out because they are afraid they may not be able to get in ( get back home safe).
Expect fewer global conferences and corporate meetings as people can't (or don't want to) get a US visa or ESTA
@randahl Personally avoiding any business related meetings in the USA and when organizing prefer Canada. For private travel? Never ever, with this fascist regime in place.

@randahl that seems like very low - underrated I think. Nobody I have met has even thought of going to the US. Not even those that were pro America before the orange problem. What is holding the people back? Dump him 🍊
@randahl Those are very conservative numbers. I think there may still be a lot of people who imagine the US 'situation' has been exaggerated, then get a very rude shock.

And i'm watching closely what's going on with the trade negotiations with Canada, which impressed me very much and wished, the EU had these balls.
But instead of standing ground, v.d.Leyen caved in and assured Agent Orange 750bil investments into the USA out of fear for higher tariffs.

@randahl I, for one, have repeatedly advised my friends and associates not to travel to the US, on the grounds that I could no longer guarantee their safety.
