Of course it would be better if each of us was 100% vegan, didn't drive (at all), didn't fly, didn't use plastics and could actually avoid all those things we know are harmful to the environment.

But the fight that matters is for system change, not individual guilt. This is not a purity contest but a collective struggle to get rid of the modern robber barons.

And if you are on side with trying to end fossil fueled, genocidal late stage capitalism (quickly regressing into fascism), then I think of you as a comrade.

Even if you drive your ute to go on long haul holidays to eat steaks on disposable plastic dishes.

Focus on replacing this destructive, oppressive system, beyond and above individual choices. And we build that with solidarity and identifying the truly harmful structures, not the people caught up in them.

This toot brought to you by friendly drunken arguments with liberal-ish friends who I'm intent on radicalising.馃槇

in other words, dear comrade, I'm not here to scold you for what's on your plate or how you got here.

I'm here to help you (and more importantly: ask for your help) to imagine and build a better world.
By all of us, for all of us.

Cheers. 馃嵎 (hic)

Doesn't that still fall within the realms of idealism from which the better world would have to escape from?

If what we imagine can be imagined that it is possible we lose touch with material reality and its constrains. On the other hand inequality is artificial and undeniable, but constructing equality may seem materially possible, takes much work and organization.

On the other hand we see the #zapatistas for 31 years from Thursday have lived outside the misery of inequality.
