we have a new stupidest AI thing I've seen today: selling prompts to put your chatbot on drugs https://www.wired.com/story/people-are-paying-to-get-their-chatbots-high-on-drugs/

WIRED

People Are Paying to Get Their Chatbots High on ‘Drugs’

An online marketplace is selling code modules that simulate the effects of cannabis, ketamine, cocaine, ayahuasca, and alcohol when they are uploaded to ChatGPT.

@davidgerard Leaving aside the specificity of this particular product...it blows my mind that people are willing to buy prompts.

There's "asking an LLM to do everything for you" lazy, and then there's "can't even be bothered to type out your own prompts" lazy.

@davidgerard

I've got some more grist for the mill. There's some clowns that have LLMs spamming people via e-mail "thanking them" for their work. Rob Pike, just got one of those stupid e-mails and went nuclear on it.

Rob Pike is a very influential computer scientist and engineer (formerly from Google) - so a lot of the techies are seeing their idol say what a lot of us are thinking.

How Rob Pike got spammed with an AI slop “act of kindness”

Rob Pike (that Rob Pike) is furious. Here’s a Bluesky link for if you have an account there and a link to it in my thread viewer if you don’t. …
