@Tutanota it is a human right, period. I don't think we should have to explain why we want that human rights are adhered to. I think they must explain why they want to take them away. And then they should also explain which other human rights they want to take away.
And then they should also explain how they want to change the constitution because most of the westernized countries have human rights in their constitutions.
@Tutanota If you don't have anything worth sharing, why should someone else be looking at it?
@Tutanota because once there is no privacy it means that it just needs one rogue government to cause a lot of deaths
Plus I always valued my privacy, so I do the same online
@Tutanota privacy matters because its univerally considered creepy when anyone stores your personal data for their use.
@Tutanota it is really simple. its because saying you have nothing to hide is the same as telling everybody you have nothing to say
@Tutanota Let me give you an "for instance" of why Privacy is important:
Imagine being watched 24/7.
Everything you do.
Everything you think.
Of course you don't have anything to hide, but you can't do anything without worrying about what others will think.
@Tutanota privacy is important to protect people's rights!
@Tutanota Why privacy matters? If privacy doesn’t matter, what else does?!
@Tutanota privacy matters to me because of the rise of authoritarianism. My existence as a gay man is becoming political and being able to communicate privately is essential to protecting my self.

because it's nunya damn business who i email, nor what for.
merry nunyamas!
@Tutanota Privacy means protecting one's personal space, and no one has the right to interfere with it. When privacy is lost, people lose control over their own lives. The feeling of being constantly monitored and restricted suppresses thinking and decision-making. Therefore, privacy is one of the fundamental conditions of being an individual and remaining free...
@Tutanota Privacy is essential, as it is a fundamental human right that supports freedom of expression.
Also It makes me sleep better at night knowing that no third party is reading my private conversations.
It's kind of like a hoodie; it can make you disappear and feel safe.
:fatyoshi:
@Tutanota it is essential to protect your personal life from external manipulation and interference.
Just as written in article 12 oft the universal declaration of human rights:
"No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks."
@Tutanota It empowers people who hold this right.
It is important to me because it is my fundamental right.
@Tutanota Privacy matters because I too like to close the door when I go #2
@Tutanota Privacy matters because there are so many large intertwined tech companies where the opposite is true and companies like Tuta need to thrive as people wake up and realize that they have had their identities compromised.
@Tutanota Privacy is a human right. You need to be sure how the company is using your data. This is just as important as in your physical life.
@Tutanota basic privacy is recognized all around the world, for personal reasons, even though it has its limits... It is a right. It should be the same online.
@Tutanota Because my data is mine and no company should be taking it without consent and then using it to make more money.
@Tutanota because my data is my data.
@Tutanota Privacy on the Internet is the foundation for being mindful of your personal data. Because the personal data are - like every person himself - unique.
@Tutanota Privacy matters more than we realise; it protects us all
@Tutanota
Because its a human right, and I'm human.
@Tutanota
Why privacy matters
Privacy isn’t about hiding.
It’s about freedom, dignity, and control.
Without privacy, people self-censor.
Without control over data, autonomy is lost.
Without limits on surveillance, power is abused.
Privacy protects individuals, democracy, and trust in technology.
Privacy is a right — not a privilege.

@Tutanota Privacy is important because it gives me the freedom to communicate and live without constant surveillance.
@Tutanota without the right to privacy it becomes a fast track to no rights at all.
@Tutanota very simple
Its a human right.
@Tutanota privacy means.. Hoodie from Tuta.. ☺️☺️.. Where is my hoodie?
@Tutanota privacy matters because I want to be relaxed finally in the world full of argues and judgment.
@Tutanota Because I think that everything you do can be misinterpreted and that some people consider you suspicious simply because you are interested in privacy.
Privacy is a basic human right. We should all have the freedom to speak our minds without fear of being punished for saying something unliked by those in power. We also deserve the right to keep some information, like our medical records, private ao that information isn't used against us.
So, you'd like to know why I believe that "privacy matters".
Why do you ask?
It's not that I have anything to hide, but you have no right to know why I believe that "privacy" does, in fact, "matter".
Also, I feel that Santa Claus dude has been watching me all year.
@Tutanota
A society can only progress with sufficient privacy and the freedom of thought that comes with it. Innovative ideas that drive societal progress are not born in the center but often emerge at the edges of society. Without privacy, diversity dies, and with it, the society's ability to evolve. The loss of privacy is the end of freedom.
Privacy means experimental, new, and potentially controversial ideas have the safety to develop while they are still too vulnerable to stand on their own. Lack of privacy chains thought to the status quo.
@Tutanota
Parce que c'est un droit élémentaire,
Parce que la surveillance et le contrôle nourrissent les moutons,
Parce que ça sent le facho de plus en plus !
@Tutanota Freedom! Privacy is essential to avoid being controlled...
@Tutanota Because privacy is a fundamental human right. It shouldn’t need to be defended or justified.
@Tutanota Because my digital life is nobody's business but my own.
@Tutanota privacy matters, because big corps are greedy and not every internet activity should be worth tracking
@Tutanota Attacking encryption, fundamental rights, privacy or open source projects like GrapheneOS, Siganl, Tuta is a threat to any EU countries constitution, freedom/democracy, economy and business integrity/security, (cyber) resilience.
@Tutanota It's not like I have something to hide, it's about corporations doesn't have the right to collect everyting about me!
@Tutanota people who know they are being watched behave differently.
And without privacy, and anonymity, revolutions are much harder.. Our current state is abysmal. Whatever it is we are doing is literally destroying society and the planet.
@Tutanota Even if you feel like you don't have anything to hide, privacy (and use of privacy-oriented tools) helps to protect those otherwise at risk of oppressive forces.
@Tutanota It's important because what you may do and say now might be legal, but in the future may be considered illegal by an authoritarian regime. Privacy ensures that your former actions and words remain private and that may keep you safe in difficult times.
@Tutanota Even Shevek needed it in Anarres!
@Tutanota Because there's NO point in losing it?
@Tutanota Privacy isn't about you hiding something you've done wrong but about protecting you from the bad intentions of the ones investigating you.
@Tutanota imo, privacy is the most important human right: not because encryption is more important than stopping genocide or climate change; but because without private communication, safeguarding all of our other rights becomes impossible in the wake of authoritarian regimes
@Tutanota It empowers the subject of the right to privacy.
@Tutanota because I don't like getting recommendations based on overheard private conversations
@Tutanota because there are people who need it more than I do. I'm just doing my part by blending in the crowd.
Why #privacy matter
This is what civil society, in particular the #DigitalRights community, is up against now: 🇺🇸 has barred leaders of @hateaid, the Global #Disinformation Index, and the Centre for Countering Digital Hate from entering the US
Expect more restrictions, threats, and intimidation against public-interest NGOs globally

@Tutanota Greater freedom and peace of mind
@Tutanota Privacy matters for private reasons ;)
@Tutanota tech companies proved they can't be trusted with user data as their ideas for using it entail marketing useless gadgets and pushing populist/fascist political parties into prominence.
Because your encryption is better than my dancing and hopefully nobody's watching.
2026 feature request: Encrypt my dancing (just in case).
@Tutanota My business is my own. Not the government's, and certainly not the weak minded old men who think they run the world.
@Tutanota it's not about having something to hide but rather having everything to protect (I've heard someone say these words but I don't remember the author)
Because opposing genocide, being a Trans ally, and even supporting labour unions makes me a target.
