Happy Winter Solstice from Fairbanks, Alaska.

This was the view from my front porch this morning at 11 a.m., right at sunrise (it's -40° outside).

A vertical photograph of a winter forest scene viewed from a porch in Fairbanks, Alaska. Tall spruce and deciduous trees fill the frame, their branches heavily coated in thick, fresh snow. The snow clings in rounded shapes to every limb, weighing the branches downward and creating an intricate, layered texture. A narrow opening between the trees reveals a pale blue-gray sky just after sunrise. The light is soft and diffuse, with no direct sun visible. The overall scene feels still and quiet, with muted colors dominated by white snow, dark tree trunks, and the faint glow of early winter daylight.
