I think it's important to separate these two things:
#AI science itself is a still-evolving tool/science, developed globally, with lots of amazing uses and potential to actually help us solve #SDGs and lots of things.
The nightmare is being made by big tech companies (worst offenders being in the US) and the way they're shovelling AI everywhere in some mad race for global domination and profits. Every use adds up. This is what's causing the extreme demand on the environment, mental degradation, job security etc. Fully agree with your view there, just let's not assume all AI is those companies (as they want us to)
