The gridfinity system sparks so much joy in my life.
The gridfinity system sparks so much joy in my life.
@mark Are you using one of the online generators for them?
An aside: I’ve really wanted drawer cabinets like that, but the open part for the handle is an issue for my OCD. Seeing this I _just_ realized that I could 3d print inserts to close those…
@mark yo this is sick! I want some now ...
@mark loosely related: check out Ikea Skadis and the models made for it
@spitfire I did see those! Might get some at some point mainly as a backdrop behind my desk area (which can double as a pegboard when needed). I also printed some multiboard samples and those are neat too.
@mark There are some very nice led strip mounts to be used as backlight for these boards, but I haven’t got around to it.
@mark every once in a while I look at the sites with models to look up what people came up with for gridfinity. https://github.com/jeffbarr/gridfinity-catalog is a good place to look at too.
@spitfire nice! Yea I did a quick google search to find some inspiration. I’ve just been creating my own inserts though since it’s very fast and I’ve been trying to get better at using Plasticity (3d modeling app).
@mark I (still, after nearly 2 years) haven’t learned modelling. Maybe because I’m able to find most of what I need already made, but also because I’ve been learning how to make good prints (as in refining the process, learning materials, etc.).
@spitfire it’s not hard at all with the right software. And honestly modeling for 3d printing is far easier than modeling for games or the Ivory elephant I did a few years ago.
Plasticity has been so great for 3d printing.
@mark I believe you, I just haven’t found the time and motivation to do it. I’ve never been into stuff like woodworking or design, which I’m sure is helpful. I’ve tried playing around with Autodesk Fusion and Shapr3d (much more approachable), both of which are free for hobby/non-commercial use, but my ADHD got the better of me. I’ll get to it at some point probably :)
@mark those battery holders are so extra 😂 definitely gonna take some notes here for when my printer arrives
@mark
I didn't know there were folks more anal retentive than myself, lol. This looks awesome.
@freediverx you have no idea. 😅
@mark That’s a lot of batteries.
