What do you wish for Mastodon to come true in 2026?
Post
@mellifluousbox I want more people on Mastodon. More tech people specifically, like robotics people. I have been watching some micromouse maze solver things and there seem to be no people who do that on mastodon.
Also, there doesn't seem to be many gay men. More of that.
More science people also.
@mellifluousbox Better passkey support and the ability to move all of one’s own posts when migrating between instances.
@mellifluousbox @neil sudo apt upgrade mastodon
It would be interesting to be able to mark an instance as a designated backup location, where you can continuously mirror your account. If the primary instance disappears, you can "promote" the backup instance to become your new primary, and a "move" will be broadcast to the network with a special key to verify it.

Governments and public offices setting up their own servers and using Mastodon as they main micro blogging service.
@mellifluousbox I wish for Mastodon to become a super-simple-low-level-entry-platform for completely normal people like my mom to join the fediverse. (Aka: fix the onboarding process to be inclusive, non-judgemental, friendly, easy-to-use, well organised, transparent and understandable for non-techy people, so everyone finds their way to a server with people and accounts they might connect to)
@mellifluousbox Please no A.I. 😟
@mellifluousbox positioning as the way for EU leaders to communicate, instead of the American censored algorithmic place
@mellifluousbox Better tools for account migration. People lose their old posts when servers are frequently shut down, and it would be great to finally have a set of features for importing past (backdated) posts. It would also mean that Mastodon would be a lot more compliant with the EU data portability regulations, as the current situation is a bit off from what the laws say.
@mellifluousbox Que milhões de brasileiros invadam o fediverso...!
@mellifluousbox I wish institutions like universities and middle/high schools would pick it up for their internal communications and to link to each other.
