@bjoernsta @ecosia oh, this is a great point. There is no nobel for earth/climate sciences. Never thought about that. Should it be a science Nobel, like the physics/chemistry ones, or more to do with activism, like the peace one (lol).. If not a Nobel, there could be a separate medal/prize for earth/climate, like the fields medal for math. No need to wait to be incorporated to the Nobels, as I doubt that will happen.

How about we get rid of the 'Nobel' in economics and replace it with this one?

@bjoernsta @ecosia I think it's an interesting proposal, but I can't imagine the Nobel committee will want to hunt for donations every year to sustain it. So, the prize would need to be backed by around €55 million in funds.

@bjoernsta @ecosia ... i agree with the logic that climate change may lead to increased cause for war. And, therefore, relevant to a peace prize. However, i am a bit of a fatalist when it comes to the "tipping point" for effective change. i believe we are past that point. We may be able to delay the inevitable. But somewhere in the future things become really really bad. Current states of denial are an expected response. (e.g. Hide under the blanket and the monster isn't there)
