Hey Bluesky, why not simply have users confirm they are above a certain age?

Today this is what #Bluesky users are seeing when they try to access their accounts.

First, this is not a necessary measure. There is no general regulation that requires Bluesky to do 'age assurance.'

Second, even if you accept that it is for 'age assurance', why not simply, as most such online platforms do, have users confirm they are old enough? Why ask for a specific birthdate?
