W. Eric Martin is leaving BoardGameGeek and starting his own board game news site in early 2026. Time is a loop – BGG News was born from Boardgame News, which Martin took over from Rick Thornquist in 2006. Now it's time for independence again, it seems.

Some things I really like about this new project:

"* The site is privacy-respecting by design (No ad networks, trackers, or pixels)
* There will be minimal, direct-sold ads instead of a wall of programmatic banners
* Eric will have a Fediverse-first social presence (Mastodon, etc....no FB, Instagram, Twitter, and so on.)"

Also, it's hosted on Ghost and not Substack, which is also awesome. Some good values here!
