There is so much censorship in the EU that 7 of the 8 countries with the most freedom of the press are EU member states.

Just adding for reference the link to the complete list. Looks like all of the older EU states are way above the US, just a few are below including Hungary (with little dictator Orban), Greece, Cyprus and Bulgaria.
