@juliewebgirl @virtuous_sloth sure, but there is a significant difference between calling something a "war" colloquially, and then formally declaring actual war, which is a move that changes the legality of lethal actions.

Congress has the power to declare war.

You are giving legitimacy to their claim that the President can declare war with an EO.

Regardless, will the international community view it as legitimate? I doubt it.

Those terms are not "weird terms" that Trump has come up with.

They both have existed since the 1980's.

What *IS* new is that this year, by executive order, "foreign drug cartels" are now classified as "foreign terrorist organizations".

No new terms, only new designations.

It's not a strong argument if you yourself are coming up with weird conclusions that are not accurate.
