Hmm, people in my neighborhood are just tossing bikes out like crazy this week. Must be because of Christmas coming up. (yes... live in a middle class neighborhood, conspicious consumption is the norm). Kid's bike, I suspect fixing the brakes is an issue for these folks. Disc brakes, which I haven't worked on, but I suspect (hope?) they are as easily repairable as caliper brakes. I bet some kid would most certainly enjoy this more than a Bike Shaped Object.
