#Spotted On Market Day in Aotearoa New Zealand:

Two men (40s & 50s?) meet in a bustling market:
The first says: "Hey Buddy."
The second says: "Hey."
The first says: "Bought a dingy."
The second says: "Fishing?"
The first says: "Yeah.
The second says: "Done."
Satisfied, they part ways.

At a carnivorous plant stall: A man (80s?) furtively looks around.
No one looking?
Good.
Right.
Grinning to himself with the air of a naughty school kid he sticks his pinky in a Venus fly trap.
Laughing to himself when it doesn't bite, then going on his way.

A cheerfully bustling woman (50s?) is arranging fresh peonies in a public toilet, shower and clothes washing space.
Four vases of fresh cut flowers decorating the sinks.
Satisfied, she stands back, admires her handiwork and nods her head.
This is correct.

In an ice cream shop a woman (40s?) says: "Kia ora*, could you please get me--" She pauses to ask what her small human (4?) would like.
Small Human whispers a request like someone imparting top secret intelligence.
Mum nods and finishes her order: "A strawberry cone. With sprinkles on top."

A woman (30s?) is lifting her tiny human (2?) up so he can use a water fountain.
But what is this?
Tiny Human has invented a new way of drinking water?
Turning his head at the last minute so the water goes all over his cheek.
Howling with laughter as Mum shakes her head and calls him a doofus.

Any typos spotted in this post recently heard some top secret ice-cream information that the strawberry ice cream with sprinkles is the way to go. If spotted, please inform typos that you're very impressed by their new method of not quite drinking water. They seem to be enjoying the process.

*Kia Ora is a te reo Māori greeting that's used commonly in New Zealand both verbally and in written communication.

lso, if you'd like to get a copy of Tiny Moments of Joy before Christmas, we're advising people order by December 1st. (Prices, including shipping in NZD, which is less in USD/Euro and GBP etc.)

(Kiwi orders can be a wee bit later.😊)

Thank you!🌻🪻❤️

And also, because wow, here's a picture of the wash basins in the loos at the centre of my local market. It's the small things sometimes, but they matter.

Delightful moments captured from people watching in a small city in Aotearoa New Zealand.
You're looking at a clean white wash basin situation. There are two white basins and two mirrors set in a white tile wall in front of them. Next to each basin are two vases of fresh flowers, totally four in all. Two vases of white peonies in the middle with the outside vases being a white and pink flower and the other one being red and orange flowers. Windows high up on the wall let in fresh sunlight. The vibe is of someone really caring about the space they work in.

@georgepenney@sunny.garden Also a brand of orange cordial concentrate sold in Britain, with a now rather unfortunate TV advert campaign with the slogan, "Kia Ora: it's too orangey for crows."
