Question: When I edit a photo on the iPhone, the image is displayed *much* brighter (and prettier) than when I exit editing mode — even when no actual edits are made to the image.

From searching around, this appears to be a “feature” related to HDR, but I still don’t understand the intent. All it does is make me feel bad about my photos once I leave exit mode, because I have just seen what could have been! 😔

Can any #photo nerds point me to an explainer of this behavior?
