It was another great one last night at Geomob Berlin
Here's our summary thread of the evening for this who couldn't attend
1/
2/ First things first, we extend a huge thanks to HERE https://www.here.com for hosting us at their office in Mitte
And our other sponsors Mapular https://www.mapular.com OpenCage https://opencagedata.com and the Open Geospatial Consortium https://www.ogc.org for funding the evening
🙏🙏🙏
3/ First speaker was Harald Körtge who took us on a walk down memory lane sharing his experiences programming a routing service for Palm Pilot devices over 20 years ago.
While the hardware has changed radically since then, many of the core concepts remain
4/ Routing was also the focus in our next talk
Patrick Niklaus, of Kale AI https://kale.ai shared the work they are doing to use #OpenStreetMap data to optimize mixed fleet delivery operations, particularly cycle delivery.
5/ Next up was Alana Belcon, sharing her life-long love of maps, and taking us through the major milestones in the history of human map making.
She closed with the wise reminder to never trust the map, to always question everything
6/ How to use geospatial data to help overcome charging and range anxiety for drivers of electrical vehicles was the focus of the next talk by Alexander Lehmann of HERE
A space for Bonfire maintainers and contributors to communicate
