There is a wave of idiots that have captured a bunch of machines and they are running new botnets.
The attacks are NOT routine scanning. They are malicious because of their sheer volume, and interspersed with genuine, though ineffective malice.

Someone is going to get busted.
I have a legal letter ready for any collaborating ISP.
