The US launched a trade war with China without first checking if it could actually win. After China retaliated by leveraging its monopoly on rare earth minerals, the things America needs for everything from cars to missiles, the US promptly folded.
The US started fight it was completely unprepared for, then surrendered and give China everything they wanted.

I keep hearing about Trump giving a $2000 check to "deserving US citizens" from all the money he's brought in from tariffs, but he's backed down and flip-flopped so many times that there really is no money there to be given back.
But the grift continues, eh? Everytime he made some announcement the stock market jumped.
@multipolarworld even if did, that would just be a stunt, a one time check isn't going to offset the permanent rise in the rise in the cost of living resulting from the tariffs
