Good morning Fedi friends and happy Monday!
Since I haven't done much self-hosting-wise lately (more on this another time) I decided to... jailbreak my old Kindle(s)!
I was a little terrified to be honest. But the whole process took LESS THAN A MINUTE.
So after my spare Kindle (a 5th gen from 2012), I'm on to my main one (a 4th gen from 2011, my oldest gadget that I still use daily).
Later this week I will "liberate" my audiobooks!

@elena Neat! I wonder if i have my old kindle lying around somewhere. Jailbreaking is such a satisfying experience.
@derek YES! And old Kindles with buttons are THE BEST IMHO! I have a case with built in light to make up for the lack of backlight...
I had purchased a newer Kindle in 2022 that died on me within a year (rough treatment by my then toddler). But I had never taken a liking to it because of the lack of buttons and the need to swipe the edge of the screen to turn the page.
Now I'm just glad to have these 13+ year old Kindles with buttons to play with. The battery life on both is still great :)

@elena Unrelated, but we should live stream a Docker 101 session on the Fediverse (PeerTube?) sometime to get you up to speed.
