My election data-and-reporting retirement project turned out to be surprisingly intense -- and rewarding! I missed having a team like I did when I was working, but I definitely didn't miss the higher stress. My latest #NextChapter post: "Work-Adjacent Projects (Cont.):

@smach

When I retired, I had similar ambitions, to the point of attempting a beta-binomial distribution model of incoming returns of the 2020 election.

Didn't yield any insight, but I cope with stress by over-analyzing things, so that part worked.

Election Night of the Living Beta Binomials

As you may have heard, the US is about to face an election more contentious than any since the Civil War. With vote counting likely drawn out due to right-wing mischief at, for example, the Post Office, what are we to make of partial returns as far as predicting the outcome? And will there be zombies?

@weekend_editor There are certain things about work that we enjoyed, even when we are happy to be retired!
Coping with stress by over-analyzing makes sense. Although the last few national elections have needed rather large doses, I think. I often cope with stress by coding.
