Best tip for moving, or similar occasions of packaging a lot of varied stuff, I've got: Use textiles that you also want to pack instead of newspapers or dedicated packaging paper for wrapping fragile items. That way you don't have to first find and later discard packaging material, you just have to unwrap and wash.
Like, put your kitchen towels between your plates, wrap vases in T-shirts, that kind of stuff.

@Anke when we moved last, I knew someone who worked in the local hospital and they turned up one day with fifty cardboard boxes, flattened I might add, to help with moving. A couple of roles of tape and a day later we were packed. All our clothes became the packing material 😆
