I had a French keyboard on my good old Lenovo T470. I ordered a US International one.

It took me approximately 5 minutes to change the keyboard:

1. Pull two latches to remove the battery
2. Unscrew two screws
3. Release the two flat cables
4. Remove the keyboard, put the new one
5. Attach the two flat cables, tighten the screws, put the battery back.

This laptop is almost 10 years old, and I don't have a feeling that the industry has gone in a positive direction in terms of repairability.

@thibaultamartin

The #t470 is my production device that I bought refurbished and upgraded with a larger #ssd and 64 GB ram.

I do not need more for programming.
