User interface pretending to be human: fraud.

Statistical sentence generation described as “intelligence”: fraud.

Telling people, often children, to commit dangerous or criminal acts: all sorts of crimes.

Scientific papers generated, non-existing cases quoted at court, homework faked, artists ripped-off: fraud and copyright infringement.

Training based on unlicensed works: copyright infringement.

Data centers with tax incentives and special energy pricing: theft.

Promises to investors of AGI: fraud.

Government bailouts with taxpayer money: theft and fraud.

—

Media and politicians: This is innovation, don’t get left behind.

The main connection I see here is the tax fraud.

Maybe Strawberry has dirt on trump, or is mentioned in the Epstein files.

Good list
I could add : Financial product innovation - Fraud
(BTW I did financial innovation for 30+ years most of it was technically legal, also fraud)

None of this the fault of LLMs or other generative “AI” by the way.

At every step there’s _people_ making criminal or at least unethical decisions.

@thomasfuchs True, but only because generative AI doesn't reason and isn't sentient. Pretty horrifying to imagine that evolving in an already (massively) tainted technology, especially if it gains its 'morality' from its creators.

@thomasfuchs in the larger picture (interconnected IOT, neural nets, AI) it will eventually happen, the same way it happened in biological life forms (hmm, gamma rays?).

Though maybe not the feelings... Which could be problematic for us, if we're still around.

@AnnieG no, it won’t. Brains aren’t computers.

Artificial neurons (sometimes called “caricature models”) are modeled after biological ones in the same way that campfires are modeled after the sun.

@thomasfuchs @AnnieG Even if they perfectly modeled real neurons, surely you'd need a LOT more structure in the thing than just a massive bunch of interconnected neurons to get any kind of actual intention or cognition. There's a reason brains have distinct parts.
