("Starter Pack" has two MCs).
Jum: looks for a chinless noble failson to pilfer from. If none are available, he robs a bank (stealthily).
Tabitha: abducts a corrupt cop then murders, de-fleshes, and mounts his skeleton on a plinth to warn the commissioner away from her crime syndicate. If he doesn't get the message, she iterates.
Alternatively, she takes her dog for walkies.
(When they finally get together, They Do Crimes.)

Tabitha sounds like a perfect Angel(a).
@HighlandLawyer That's what I'm aiming for—I think Harry messed up Angelina's motivations and psychology something awful, but then, he was a man born in the 1920s and writing in the 1950s. He wasn't alone in that respect, the genre was full of male authors failing at women.

The fact that Sinjoro Harrison was a "progressive" of his time is why so much of his works holds up as well as it does; the failures demonstrate how endemic the relative attitudes were in his time.

@Perrin42 The first is a classic of taut pulp storytelling *except* that Angelina's back story is some fucked-up 1950s tradwife bullshit (and all the characters except Jim DiGriz are thin as rice paper).
I've always remembered liking it, but I read it over 30 years ago and don't remember any details. I actually picked the series up a few weeks ago, but I'm rereading Cradle again at the moment.
@Perrin42 I last re-read the first SSR book the day after Harry died, 19 years ago. Not sure I'd dare go back now.
But I've done my Heinlein tribute novel, I've got an Iain M. Banks one on the cutting room floor, and Harry Harrison seemed like a good trifecta.
Yeah, rereading those older stories is rough at times. Even Asimov - I've read the Foundation and Robots series multiple times - but the characterizations of women could certainly be problematic and there is *so much smoking*.
I'm looking forward to your homage. I hope there a bartender named Jimmy D. somewhere in there.
