"unless you own a diamond mine, an oil rig in Kuwait, a chain of gas stations, or a Vaseline factory – do not buy used hybrids with more than 100,000 km. [...] Hybrids represent the most expensive category of vehicles when measured by drivetrain and battery cost per kilowatt hour."

@unixtippse Been worried about this for years:

Electric: Far fewer parts
Hybrid: Hella more parts

Complexity is rarely your friend.

@dexter @unixtippse
Electric: requires you to live in a single-family home with a garage, or a recently constructed MDU with charging outlets, or spend half an hour fast-charging every 200 miles of travel
Hybrid: doesn't
Pure ICE: also doesn't

For PHEV specifically, I agree, there's not much value: if you have a place you can plug in, better off just going pure EV and avoiding the weight and maintenance expense of an ICE.
