@jpm @shodansafari @gigabecquerel Am I reading this right - 10 µSv/hr = 1 mrem/hr? That's basically nothing.

I despise metric radiation units because they're either unmemorable or stupid. 5 rem is the annual occupational dose limit, you'll probably feel 30, you'll definitely feel 100, and 300-500 you should probably make out a will.

Curies aren't a great unit; fine for a hundred years ago but it's like measuring horses in units of hands or weight in stone. Becquerels are just stupid - just say decay-per-second. Sieverts are just anti-human - strange powers of ten, impossible to clearly communicate rule-of-thumb doses. Rem is like Celsius - human-scaled and trivial to remember important values.
