Cops lie. Cops lie all the time. Cops lie in court all the time. Cops lie in court all the time and never ever suffer consequences for doing so.
As far as they are concerned, it’s part of the job description to be dishonest and use your power to silence anyone you see as a threat. So this is what we get.
Also another reminder that the IPCA’s role is that of a public facing HR department for the cops. Squash scandals, give the impression of accountability, protect your boys.
The real news story here is that they didn’t manage to sweep it all under the rug in the first place.
