AI companies have managed to persuade the EU they need to cut GDPR up. https://www.politico.eu/article/brussels-knifes-privacy-to-feed-the-ai-boom-gdpr-digital-omnibus/

@GossiTheDog @briankrebs This is so backwards. It would be devastating for human rights. We must stop this.

@Em0nM4stodon @GossiTheDog So the claim is that it will all be anonymized data is complete bollocks. Just like the mobile ad companies say oh this mobile location data is anonymized, and then you have this enormously profitable industry of brokers who are piecing all the marketing industry data points together to build detailed profiles on people.

Fuck no! There should be no exceptions to GDPR. My data, my privacy. If anything there should be stiffer penalties for feeding any personal information into AI systems given that the security of said data is then unknown as you can't be certain what garbage an LLM is going to spit out. They can fuck right off and then fuck off some more

@GossiTheDog AI is a fascist tech so it's sad to see them yield to it.

@GossiTheDog I called this before Trump was elected, that they're going to double down on getting rid of regulation and granting US tech giants free access to EU data. They're just going to get more hawkish on this and blackmail with NATO participation and security, if EU doesn't comply to their wants.

Finland is already planning to move election data to AWS. I want to get off this ride.

What the fucking hell!? What is being called "AI" is rubbish, unworthy of any deference or concessions. Don't believe the hype. What happened to the EU's ethics and morals? Screw the AI companies!

@GossiTheDog Seems like even if/when the bubble pops, AI will have expanded tech's control in ways that will have made the grift fully worth it.

They've successfully scrubbed out consent, privacy, and the notion of "trojan horses" to such an extent that it will take ages to claw back any semblence of the individual as a person.

@GossiTheDog Which, I know its incredibly tin foil hat but conflating AI with sentience is effective in muddying the idea that humans are deserving of rights because our intelligence has always been to bar for that privledge.

It has been the cudgel used at various times alongside other eugenic metrics. But, now we're in a culture that thinks something more intelligent lives inside a black box somewhere via the internet. And, the consequences of that are lengthy.

@GossiTheDog

If we’re lucky, the bubble will burst before this passes and no one will want to be seen as making concessions to the people who broke the world’s economy.
