Folks, it doesn’t matter that Schumer voted “no”. He got the Dem caucus on board with caving. THEN the caucus figured out who should vote yes to provide cover for D Sens up for reelection in 2026, who might have been in serious danger of being primaried. As for the retiring D Senators, doing their colleagues this favor now serves their interest in post-retirement lobbying access and influence. 1/

@heidilifeldman They didn't "cave." They made a political gesture and won the election. It worked.
What we know now is that most of the actual US wants working class people to have access to affordable health care. We the people want that.
We need to pack the primaries with Mamdani's. Whomever does that will win.
@heidilifeldman man i know a lot of people dont want to see the fucking sunrise / the country you knew the one you carried in your head is gone / none of this discourse evens matters / sleepwalkers wake up
@heidilifeldman the best corruption money can buy.
@heidilifeldman Alternative viewpoint, maybe these 8 are just assholes. Seriously, do we really believe four dozen of the most egotistical people in the country (and their staffers) could strategically coordinate who will vote yes or no AND not spill the beans. Not everything needs to be a conspiracy.
@heidilifeldman the shortest route to pressuring Dems runs through Las Vegas. I implore any Democrats with current plans for a trip there to cancel & let them know why. This could be our only chance to save the country.
@heidilifeldman The vote count is just the performance. The deal happens behind closed doors, long before the cameras roll.
@heidilifeldman J-effin-C, 40 days of shut down and anxiety and they basically just then ...caved?? Can't imagine why people think the Democratic party is wimpy and ineffective.

@heidilifeldman Abolish the Senate.
I simply can’t follow the logic that if Schumer didn’t cave, other democrats would have caved instead, and were only moved to stand up, not cave because Schumer did cave.
@heidilifeldman If I remember correctly there is a strange rule in the house and in the senate that allows a congress critter who votes "no" to later re-open the vote. That's why there are these strange votes in which someone in the house or senate votes "no" despite being clearly on the "yes" side.
@heidilifeldman
This gives Schumer too much credit IMO. He's never shown the ability to convince his caucus to do anything or marshall votes.
But he's trash and still needs to go. Yesterday if not sooner.
@heidilifeldman nailed it, well said
@heidilifeldman i am beginning to see why trump gets away with badically murder.
